So what is all the talk about CBD (Cannabidoil) lately? From the recent release by Holland & Barret and all the talk on Social Media, what exactly is this? CBD (Cannabinoid) is a compound within the Cannabis plant which unlike it’s psychoactive buddy THC (Delta 9 Tetrahydrocannabinol), doesn’t cause psychoactive effects or in other words, get you “high”, it has actually shown that CBD counteracts the “high” feeling that THC causes. Right now, CBD oil is a substance that is being praised for its benefits but what about the plants that it comes from?
How does CBD differ from THC?
CBD, can be found in both the hemp plant and marijuana plants. THC and CBD are both compounds that are known as cannabinoids, but both play a different role within the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) within the body. CBD has the ability to help with anxiety, while THC on the other hand can make it worse. This is because each substance has a different effect on the endocannabinoid receptors (CB1 & CB2) in the human body, THC activates these receptors while CBD blocks them, or dulls them.
What are people using CBD for?
Mild scientific and clinical studies have shown that CBD (Cannabidiol) can be effective in easing symptoms of a wide range of difficult-to-control conditions such as: fibromyalgia, arthritis, epilepsy, menstrual cramping, bloating, headaches, sore joints and muscles, relaxation, stomach issues, ulcers, anxiety, sleep issues, hunger issues, cancer, tumors, skin issues, fungal issues, and hair issues. While none of this has been proven through anything but mild research, a large number of people who have used CBD can give testimony to what it has done for them personally. While CBD has not been listed as currently having medicinal value, so it is just a herbal supplement. That is hilarious because, as a herbal supplement, CBD is doing things that the medicinal industry has never done before, and will never do.
Should I start taking CBD?
Consumer evidence shows it does have the capability to help you. It has been shown to promote general health and well-being, even if you do not have any kind of medical issues and just want to take it for precaution. No matter what, you should always seek the advice of a medical professional or your doctor before you begin to use any kind of supplement, especially if you have a serious medical condition or are on another type of medication.
